Process
I begin my paintings researching my library of reference photos, built up over time through my travels. I'm looking for things that are colorful and functional. I need the perspective to be dynamic. I also look for subject which can push my skills and require a level of difficulty. This process is sometimes very slow so that I can find just the right subject to paint.
I create my painting surfaces by hand. I stretch canvas onto stretchers making them tight. When stretched, I apply gesso. I also will sand the gesso and apply 2 to 3 layers while sanding each after they are dry. This provides me with a smooth painting surface which I prefer to paint on.
When complete I sketch out a drawing and a light wash on the canvas.
I apply several thin layers of paint. I like to use multiple color layers until I have built up a foundation for my oil paint.
When complete, I use the best framing materials, and always ship in safe, quality packaging.
Collectors also receive a certificate of authenticity, and an information packet on the painting and the artist.
